Interzinc 22

Description

Interzinc 22 is a two-component, rapid recoat, fast-curing, inorganic zinc-rich ethyl silicate primer with solvents and a dry coating containing 85% zinc by weight. Meets SSPC Paint 20 Level 1 requirement. Type II (low lead) zinc dust form of ASTM D520 is standard.

When maintaining or building new bridges, tanks, pipes, offshore buildings, and structural steelwork, a zinc-rich primer can be used with a variety of high-performance systems and topcoats. Interzinc 22 can also be used as tank coating appropriate for the carriage of various chemical cargoes (e.g. styrene) according to International Paint’s chemical resistance guide.

When properly top coated, it offers good corrosion protection for properly prepared steel substrates up to temperatures of 1004°F (540°C). The fast-curing primer Interzinc 22 can be used in various weather settings.

All areas that are going to be coated need to be contamination-free, dry, and clean. All surfaces must be evaluated and handled in accordance with ISO 8504:2000 prior to painting. Remove any oil or residue as directed. In line with SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning, any oil or grease should be eliminated.

Prior to application, the substance needs to be filtered, and while it’s being sprayed, the saucepan needs to be vigorously stirred. Once the component has been mixed, it has to be used inside the designated functional pot life.

When Interzinc 22 must be overcoated on its own because of a thin dry layer, the coating surface must be new and unweathered. Any additional coat of Interzinc 22 must be at least 2 mils (50 microns) d.f.t. thick to guarantee proper film formation.

Make sure Interzinc 22 is completely cured before applying the suggested topcoats (see above). In the event that weathering has already taken place, all zinc salts must be eliminated from the outer layer using fresh water washing and, if required, a bristle brush.

Check the Interline 850 Potable Water Tank Application Guidelines prior to using in drinkable water tanks. Follow the Worldwide Marine Guidelines when using. All surfaces that will be coated must be clear of contamination, dry, and clean. In line with SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning, high-pressure fresh water wash or fresh water wash, as applicable, and remove all oil or grease, soluble contaminants, and other foreign matter.

The material is delivered in two crates together. Always combine an entire container according to the instructions.

• Apply a power mixer to stir the Base (Part A).
• Through using the power agitator, combine the complete contents of Base (Part A) and Curing Agent (Part B).
