Interthane 990

Description

Interthane 990 provides excellent longevity and long-term re-coatability with its two-pack acrylic polyurethane finishing. Interthane 990 can be used as a decorative coating for surfaces above water. it is useful for boot tops, exterior superstructure, external decks, and topsides. appropriate for use at new construction, maintenance and repair, or onboard maintenance.

Depending on the vessel area, a different suggested primer system must be used before applying Interthane 990. Use under the guidelines of the Global Marine Specifications. Use of Interthane 990 in continuously submerged environments is not advised. On boot-top areas, Interthane 990 may be applied with decreased overcoating intervals over the proper primers.

All areas that are going to be coated need to be contamination-free, dry, and clean. Remove all oil or grease, soluble contaminants, and other foreign matter in accordance with SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning. High-pressure fresh water wash or fresh water wash, as applicable.

The material is delivered in two crates together. Always combine an entire container according to the instructions.

• Use an electric agitator to stir the Base (Part A).
• Use the power agitator to fully combine the Curing Agent (Part B) and Base (Part A) mixtures.

Two coats of Interthane 990 may be necessary for brush and roller application in some colours and for uniform coverage, particularly when putting Interthane 990 over darker undercoats and when using specific lead-free bright finish colours like yellows and oranges. The best technique is to layer Interthane 990 with a colour-compatible intermediate or anticorrosive coating.
