Puncture-resistant safety boot is a type of footwear designed to protect the wearer’s feet from puncture wounds caused by sharp objects such as nails, screws, and metal shards.
Monitors are firefighting machines mostly used in situations where there are fire outbreaks and a certain distance is needed. They are mostly found where corrosive or combustible liquids and substances are kept, in loading racks, dykes, marine and other industrial purposes where fire incidents are likely to happen and a closer intervention would not be possible as a result of the substances involved.Read More
A monitor is a device with directional regulation which determines the flow of water, foam or powder through the nozzle at varied proportions and quantities which solely depend on the size of the monitor. Monitors are employed to regulate how these fire retardants flow in both horizontal and vertical directions at high volumes. Some of these monitors are designed to oscillate automatically from side to side and the substance pressure serves as the power source. However, there are also some which are controlled by someone using an electric engine or oil hydraulic engine and some that are remote controlled with an electric joystick.
Monitors are made of two distinct parts which are the body of the monitor and a nozzle which decides the type of substance discharged and the flow rate. The body is made from Carbon Steel heavy-duty seamless pipe, hot-dip galvanized to resist corrosion and is built to ensure ease of operation and maintenance. They vary in size from 2 1/2” to 8” and are designed for both vertical and horizontal movement, capable of horizontal rotation of 360˚ and vertical traverse of +90˚ to -45˚. They can be hoisted on movable or fixed supports but must be on the ground within a certain height.
Monitors are compatible with a variety of nozzles such as Solid Bore Jet Nozzle, Hollow Jet-Fog Nozzle, Self-Aspirating and Self Inducting Foam Barrel and Self Inducting Aqua Foam Nozzle and these nozzles
have different flow capacities ranging from 500 Ltr/Min to 30,000 Ltr/Min. Some of the materials used in making these nozzles are Aluminium Alloy, Stainless Steel and Gunmetal.
In all, it is important to note that the different types of monitors are according to certain distinct features. This includes:
The mode of operation: which are automatic, engine based or remote-controlled.
Mobility: This is fixed or portable.
Based on the material from which they are made: such as casting monitors made from Bronze or Anti-corrosion Light Alloy and Welded monitors made from Carbon Steel or 304/316 Stainless Steel.
