Puncture-resistant safety boot is a type of footwear designed to protect the wearer’s feet from puncture wounds caused by sharp objects such as nails, screws, and metal shards.
The fire hose is one of the most fundamental equipment used in fire-fighting. It is needed to supply fire retardants to a fire to extinguish it. A fire hose is an extremely high-pressure hose that supplies water, foam or chemicals to fire during firefighting. Usually, the pressure is around 800kPa and 2000kPa.Read More
During operations, fire hoses can be connected to a fire engine, a fire hydrant or a portable fire pump.
A fire hose is made from a polyurethane material and this material naturally has a high-pressure resistance, oil resistance, corrosion resistance and water-resistant capacity. The outer layer of a fire hose is coated with polyester filaments all through. Hence, why they are light and soft, flexible and easy to use. Generally, there are two major types of hoses and this is categorized according to their use. They are:
Suction Hose: A suction hose is used in sucking water from reservoirs, lakes, rivers, wells, pools, etc., which is to be transported to extinguish a fire. There are three diameters used for a suction hose which are 75mm, 100mm, and 140mm, and the diameter used must be compatible with the capacity of the pumping machine.
Delivery Hose: The delivery hose is the most popular type of fire hose. This type of hose is used in supplying high pressured water or other fire retardants during firefighting. The delivery hose is subdivided into two types which are: percolating hose, and non-percolating hose.
A percolating hose is designed to allow water to ooze through the body of the hose during operation. The streaming of water through the body of the hose preserves the hose from being damaged by flickering embers falling on it or when the hose falls on a hot surface. This makes it very suitable for fighting forest fires.
The Non-percolating hose is made up of a reinforced coating that is produced from polyester or nylon yarns. They also have an inner layer of rubber which makes them water-resistant, hence, they do not trickle water. The non-percolating hose is popularly used when fighting any other fire other than forest fires.
For proper maintenance, the hose needs to be hung up to dry up all remaining water. This is because leaving water in the hose for a long time will damage the material and the hose won’t be fit for purpose anymore. The structure mostly used for hanging a hose is known as a hose tower.
If you need a fire hose for your workplace, commercial buildings or your fire service department, Morven Industrial has just any type that you are looking for. We offer high-quality hoses made by the best brands. Choose from our list of fire hoses and have your needs met.
